Wordless Picture Books
Everybody knows that picture books have pictures, but did you know some of them don’t have any words at all? They’re called wordless picture books, and even though they don’t have text in them, they still manage to tell a story through illustrations.
One of my favorites is the Caldecott award winner A Ball For Daisy written by Chris Raschka. Daisy loves her ball more than anything else – she even takes naps with it! So when another dog at the park accidentally pops it, you can imagine her response. Luckily, her human has a plan to make everything better.
Wordless picture books are great for sharing – you don’t even need to be able to read to tell the story! They also let the beautiful art of the picture book take center stage. If you’d like to check out some wordless picture books, be sure to ask your librarian for some suggestions today!
