Trinity University, a Presbyterian institution in Waxahachie, agrees to relocate to San Antonio and merge with the University of San Antonio, a Methodist university.

General Dwight D. Eisenhower, army chief of staff, arrives in San Antonio in his four engine plane, Sunflower II, to inspect local army installations and to join his wife, who has been visiting here all week.

Athens, Georgia’s own B-52’s play their first concert in San Antonio at Rock Saloon. The Judy’s (“Guyana Punch”) from Pearland, TX open the show.
