Councilwoman Shirley Gonzales and the San Antonio Public Library will celebrate the reopening of the Collins Garden Branch Library (200 N. Park Blvd., 78204) on Saturday, January 30, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The San Antonio Public Library temporarily closed Collins Garden Branch Library on June 22, 2015 for major improvements and to co-locate a new Council 5 district field office, which will replace the current District 5 Nogalitos Field Office.
The upgrades to the library facility and the co-location of the city council field office will better serve the community by making it more convenient to access library and constituent services. Improvements made to the building include: transforming the front of the building and activating the entry plaza with a modern building façade and seating, renovating the existing restrooms; expanding the front of the building by approx. 800sq ft. to add additional service space; installing new carpet and painting the interior and exterior walls to refresh the facility. A new “flex space” for group meetings was created, as well as designated spaces for children and teens.
The San Antonio Public Library will host a variety of family-friendly grand reopening activities including story time, face painting, balloon animals, arts & crafts, animal adoptions, zumba class and more. Join us for a full day of exciting activities and programs, and to check out the new Council 5 district field office. For more information, visit mysapl.org or call 210-207-9120.
