Viva Libro—San Antonio Public Library Latino Collection and Resource Center First Year Anniversary and Literary Fair

San Antonio Public Library Latino Collection and Resource Center celebrates First Year Anniversary and literary fair with author readings, writer’s workshops and a book Mercado

Locally and nationally revered literary giants, Dr. Carmen Tafolla and Tomás Ybarra y Frausto, along with District 1 City Councilman Roberto C. Treviño will take part in a program presentation. A reading by Dr. Carmen Tafolla, former Texas and San Antonio Poet Laureate will follow the program presentation.

The Viva Libro portion of the day will include a book Mercado, music, food and writers workshops by Barrio Writers, Carolina Hinojosa-Cisneros and St. Sucia Zine.

The expansion of Latino Collection was a highly anticipated addition to the Library with hopes of culturally significant programming and resources. A year later, that vision was been realized and has surpassed expectations having witnessed usage of the Collection grow by 209%. The Latino Collection has also hosted more than 50 events with more than 1,800 in attendance in one year.

Viva Libro—Latino Collection and Resource Center First Year Anniversary welcomes the public to this celebration and literary fair. Author Carolyn Dee Flores will be joining Dr. Carmen Tafolla in a reading. Guests will also be treated to a by well-regarded author, Barbara Renaud Gonzalez.
