Carve Out Some Good Times this Month at the San Antonio Public Library

SA Public Library to host free, fang-tastic programs and events this Booktober

Trick-or-Treat yourself all month long at the San Antonio Public Library. From pumpkin carving, Halloween costume parties, haunted library grounds, and even a pooch-parade, the Library has a line-up of free activities, programs and events for all ages. For a complete list of Library events, visit


Week of Oct. 6 – 12

Horror in the Stacks: Prosthetics DIY

Wednesday, October 9 | 6PM-7PM

Visit Central Library’s Prosthetics DIY class and learn how to make oozing wounds and other tutorials just in time for Halloween. All supplies will be provided. Entry is based on a first come first serve basis.


Art Therapy: Pumpkin Painting

Paint your own mini-pumpkin for Halloween! Supplies provided, light refreshments will also be served. (Ages 13+)

Halloween History for San Antonians

Ghostly greetings this Halloween season! Join Curious Twins Paranormal for a special presentation exploring the history and ancient traditions of Halloween. Historian, Fred Garza will provide insight into the origins of Halloween, and celebrations of death around the world, as well as local connections to the holiday.


Igo Pooch Parade

You and your best friend are invited! Expect dogtastic games, a pooch costume parade and a costume contest. Judges of the reviewing stand will recognize pooches in Best Pooch-Pal Costume Duo, Best Dressed Pooch and Most Star- Studded Pooch. Registration for contest is required on site. All dogs must be vaccinated and on a leash.

Encino’s Boo Bash

Families are invited to come enjoy Halloween festivities including crafts, snacks, and activities. Children are welcome to wear their Halloween costumes. This event is for ages 12 and under with their family/caregivers.

Henna/Mehndi Halloween Art

Enjoy a professionally drawn Henna Halloween art designed on your hand by a professional Henna artist. Henna/Mehndi is a thousand of years old art stemming from many ancient cultures. All works are done by freehand which makes yours truly one of a kind! Tea refreshments will be provided.
