History Month at the San Antonio Public Library
San Antonio Public
Library hosts a variety of programs and events that include film screenings,
dance workshops, book clubs, and more.
SAN
ANTONIO (February 7, 2020) – In honor of Black History Month, San Antonio
Public Library (SAPL) will be hosting a line-up of free, fun and educational
programming for all ages that celebrate diversity and inclusion. During the
month of February, we celebrate Black History Month, a time to recognize and
honor the central role of Black Americans in U.S. history.
The
San Antonio Public Library is proud to be hosting a variety of events and
discussions throughout the month at several branch locations that offer a
contemporary look at Black History Month while addressing the historical

on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City

Antonio Public Library will be hosting a showing of the independent, locally
produced film, Walk on the River: A Black History of the Alamo City. This
documentary recounts the path of freed Blacks, from the founding of Black
communities, churches and schools in the 1800s to the Black-owned businesses
that prospered during the Jim Crow era. The showing will feature an
introduction by the film’s producer Aundar Ma’at and director Born Logic Allah.
After the film, Ma’at and Allah will host a brief Q&A session.
