Col William Barret Travis is reported to have drawn his famous “line in the sand” in the Alamo on this day.

Chef James Beard gives cooking demonstrations and signs copies of his cookbooks during appearances at the UT Health Science Center.  The cost of attending is $10 today only or $15 for today and tomorrow.  Proceeds benefit the San Antonio Symphony.

1986
The Sears building on Romana Plaza closes.  It will be razed, rebuilt and opened in 1995 as the San Antonio Central Library.
