1849
Gen. William Jenkins Worth, veteran of the War of 1812 and the Mexican War, dies of cholera in San Antonio. Fort Worth was named for him on November 14, 1849.

1877
Abraham Wolff and Daniel Marx form a partnership and go into business together as Wolff & Marx. They would remain one of San Antonio’s most popular mercantile stores until being purchased by competitor Joske’s in 1965.

1953
Robert B. Green Hospital officials are literally collecting their debts in blood.  With a low reserve of pints in the hospitals, blood bank officials were contacting families of patients in an effort to get the blood quota out of the red.
