June 21 in San Antonio history...

1922
A pot of gold was unearthed on the site of the new park at Main Ave. and Romana St. today. Workmen reported the gold was in $5, $10 and $20 pieces but gave no estimate of the total find.

1941
Jimmy Johnson’s Playland comes to San Antonio and holds its grand opening in its first location at 223 N. St. Mary’s Street.

1946
One new polio case was reported by the city health department.  Also the health department statistical office was directed to prepare data showing the age groups most affected following the lowering of the polio ban.  On May 11, the ban was placed on all under 21, on June 3 it was lowered to 18 and younger and on June 10 it was lowered again to include those 14 and under.
