July 2 in San Antonio history

1838
A note in the minutes of the City Records this day reads as follows: “In consequence of the Council and Citizens generally being engaged in making preparations to repel the aggressions of the Indians there was no meeting of the Corporation this day. Signed, W. P. Delmour Secretary, July 2.”

H. L. Crittenden says that DDT spraying will continue through September, especially in the areas of the city that have pit toilets.

A total of 61 percent of all business establishments signed pledges that they would voluntarily desegregate, according to a report of the City Council’s committee on desegregation.
