The City Council passes the “Bawdy House Ordinance,” legalizing and licensing houses of prostitution.

1946
In celebration of the lifting of the polio ban, the city recreation department has planned a special program for 8 p.m. Wednesday (July 7) at the Arneson River Theater.  An oldtime community sing will be augmented by a program of dancers and singers.

1990
Eleven-year-old Heidi Seeman disappears, prompting a massive search and a city-wide outpouring of support. Her body is found on August 25. Her murder remains unsolved to this day.
