August 19 in San Antonio history...

1907
Despite the fact that no official weather forecast can be had because of local involvement in the telegraph strike, we have it on good authority that there will be no snowstorm within the next 24 hours.

1946
San Antonio entered its 10th day with no new local polio cases but admitted its second victim from Seguin.  The first, a six-year old girl, is still in the polio ward at the Robert B. Green hospital.

1986
The temperature reaches 108 degrees, a record that will stand until September of 2000.
