Fauja Singh Keeps Going, by Simran Jeet Singh

The True Story of the Oldest Person to Ever Run a Marathon

Fauja Singh Keeps Going

"It's too hard. He's too weak." From the time he was a little boy until he was an old man, Fauja Singh heard these words from others. His mother said different words to him. "You know yourself, and you know what you're capable of. Today is a chance to do your best." He didn't learn to walk at the same age as other children, but he kept practicing every day. When he was five years old, he finally walked. He not only walked, he grew up to be a farmer, got married, and had children. When he was 89 years old, he ran 26.2 miles to complete the London Marathon! He didn't stop there. Now 109 years old, Fauja Singh is still going!

Fauja Singh Keeps Going was written by Simran Jeet Singh (a native of San Antonio!) with lively illustrations by Baljinder Kaur.
