February 11 in San Antonio history...

1882
The Freie Presse für Texas, San Antonio’s German language newspaper, reports that more gas lanterns are desperately needed in the city’s fourth ward.  Two lanterns on Alamo Street and two on the Alameda (now Commerce Street) is all the lighting available east of the river.

1943
The “King of the Cowboys,” Roy Rogers, appears onstage at the Empire Theater along with his horse, Trigger, and the Sons of the Pioneers, to promote his newest film, “Idaho.”  He also entertains the enlisted men at Randolph Field.

19961996
San Antonio hosts the NBA All-Star Game in the Alamodome.  The Eastern Conference wins, 129-118.  Michael Jordan is named Most Valuable Player.
