February 18 in San Antonio history...

1958
Despite dreary weather, an enthusiastic crowd showed up to see the more than 230 exhibits in the San Antonio Independent School District’s Science Fair in the basement of Municipal Auditorium. Exhibit hours for the 3-day fair are 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  Admission is free.  The fair is the first in San Antonio and was planned by Raymond Arnold, SAISD curriculum director.

1969
Homemade leaflet bombs explode about 5 p.m in Alamo Plaza and Northwest Shopping Center, shooting leaflets as high as 50 feet into the air and scattering them in the tops of nearby trees.  A right-wing political group called “The Minutemen” claimed responsibility.  No one was injured.

Canadian rock trio Triumph plays their first show in the United States right here in Convention Center Arena.  Yesterday & Today and the Runaways are the opening acts.
