April 23 in San Antonio history...

1900
At today’s meeting of the City Council, Alderman Barker introduced the following resolution, which was adopted (allowing the property donated by Caroline Kampmann to become the site for the new Carnegie Library):
That the deeds of Mrs. Kampmann, together with all papers, abstracts, stipulations and conditions on be referred to the city attorney to report at the next meeting of the city council to determine wherein the conditions of the Kampmann proposition are such as to properly safeguard the city in the future in the peaceable possession of the said property as library site.

1917
The citizens of Boerne witnessed the first aeroplane flying over this town today when John Frost of San Antonio flew over Boerne about 5 o ’clock, making a detour of the city twice, going almost out of sight and then coming down to about 250 feet near the main street.  He continued on toward Comfort and then turned to head back to his home in San Antonio.

1960
The new 250-room Ramada Inn opens at San Pedro Avenue and Loop 13.  The new $2.5 million hotel is the 29th in the Ramada system.
