More about the Program

On Monday, September 12, the San Antonio Public Library will host Chinese Folk Songs: History, Tradition, and Genres performed by soprano Liangwen Claire Chen - winner of the first prize in the opera category of China's prestigious "Jin-Kui-Hua" competition (2010); and bronze medal in Asia Classical Music Competition (2009).

Chen is a soprano who has mastered Chinese folk song singing, a style that requires a different singing technique and projection. As a bel canto singer, she is adept to present the deep emotions through her artistic performance of the songs. Chen received China's national scholarship and graduated from Shenyang Conservatory of Music summa cum laude. She has performed in numerous national music and artistic festivals and has frequently had her soloist performances on national TV in China.
