San Antonio Public Library Digital Inclusion Efforts Recognized Nationally With Employee Award

Latino Collection and Resource Center Coordinator Emma Hernández identified as a Mover & Shaker by Library Journal

San Antonio Public Library employee Emma Hernández was one of 50 chosen by Library Journal as a Mover & Shaker 2018. The prestigious award recognizes up-and-coming individuals from around the world who are innovative, creative, and making a difference in libraries. Hernández, Latino Collection and Resource Center Coordinator at San Antonio Public Library, was chosen as a Community Builder for her role of putting the San Antonio Public Library at the forefront of digital inclusion efforts in the San Antonio community.

Hop into your Tardis, Batmobile or invisible plane and head over to the San Antonio Pop Con at the Central Library March 3 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.! Enjoy a whole day of artists, authors, fan groups, anime, gaming, a cosplay contest, an art contest, and more. San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg will kick off the festivities.

San Antonio natives Xelena González and Adriana Garcia will celebrate their award-winning children’s book All Around Us at a special family fun program in the new Latino Collection and Resource Center at Central Library. González is a former San Antonio Public Library employee.

San Antonio Public Library and Holocaust Memorial Museum of San Antonio Conclude 6th Annual Holocaust: Learn & Remember Commemoration with Keynote Address by Dr. Edward B. Westermann

Dr. Edward Westermann will examine artistic depictions by survivors of the Holocaust and discuss the insights that the works of art offer as a method for understanding genocide.
