Celebrate the last week of National Poetry Month by reading a novel-in-verse about a girl who must do all she can to survive on her own!
In Alone by Megan E. Freeman, Maddie and her two best friends scheme to have a secret sleepover, which seems like a great idea until they both bail, leaving Maddie by herself for the night. When Maddie wakes up the next morning, she learns that the town was evacuated and is now deserted. Her parents both thought she was staying with the other parent, so neither realized she was left behind when they evacuated. She tries to call her parents, but they don’t answer. Can she survive on her own with only a Rottweiler named George for a companion?
